Vision

Love, being the most perfect communication we can imagine, deserves (by its total lack of selfishness) its unique place in the human psyche. Defining our warring Planet through places of love or by rising walls and sites of hatred are probably two opposed visions of life which might make all the difference to our future.

What water is to body, love is to soul.

Why love?

Love is the only perfect communication human beings can achieve and the true name of freedom. Love has always ignored differences and boundaries; it has always been above the rules and beyond limitations. Love between two human beings seems to gives us the ultimate feeling of fulfilment and purpose.

With it we are invulnerable and noble. Without it, we are exposed to insecurities and inhibitions which demean the human condition. Love is universal and common to all and everybody - no matter when and where on the entire Earth we happen to be. It may well be that love is the central generative principle of the Universe.

Our mission

Our beautiful, rich Planet is becoming an ugly and dangerous place. It is excessively negatively defined by monuments and institutions marking the places of conflict and suffering.

Instead, we want to shine with a light on places of unique human emotional experience, as a celebration of life and beauty dedicated to promoting and presenting love in its endless positive inspiration.

In opposition to a discouraging and cynical present, the project is deliberately naïve: but we do not see that as a bad thing.

Our collection consists of love legends and local love stories from all over the world, inspiring enough to have entered collective memory. We wish our site to become a well-visited spot within the mnemosphere, adding an affective colouring to this universal mind.

Our ongoing, long-term action plan consists of:

1. turning the web-site into a well visited place

2. helping to establish love museums and visitor centres

3. marking the places of love with plaques, actions etc.

4. initiating an attractive niche of cultural tourism: agapetourism, rather than thanotourism

5. organizing a network of places and people

We intend to create a global network of places of love. Those so far known only to a few will gain attention. Others will get more fans. All will increasingly become a shared memory if marked or otherwise communicated as part of the Global Love Museum.
